Mr.
Leckar began his legal career as a Legislative
Assistant to former United States Senator
Herman E. Talmadge (D-GA), and then served as
a trial attorney with the Commodity Futures
Trading Commission in Washington, DC. He
entered private practice in 1978, and since
that time has developed a specialty in federal
commercial litigation, enforcement defense and
criminal appellate work. He also has extensive
experience in civil RICO, securities and
commodities anti-fraud and criminal white
collar matters, as well as federal appeals
involving actions of various governmental
agencies.
In a case featured on the front page of the
Wall Street Journal, after joining Butera
& Andrews, Mr. Leckar successfully
represented a broadcaster which the FCC had
ordered off the air. The US Court of Appeals
for the DC Circuit took the unusual step of
reversing the agency action and restoring our
client to the airways.
For the past eight years, Mr. Leckar has also
served as a mediator for the US District Court
for the District of Columbia and is a member
of the Advisory Committee on Rules of the
United States Court of Appeals for the
District of Columbia Circuit. He has authored
articles on litigation, administrative law,
antitrust and other matters in various legal
journals, made television appearances and been
quoted in numerous newspaper articles . |
